Valparaiso Train Depot Time Lapse

Eight hours of footage condensed into just over a minute. The Grand Trunk Railway of Canada built a line from Chicago to Valparaiso in 1880. The depot was constructed in 1912 and served continuously until Canadian National recently vacated the building and slated its demolition. The Porter County Career and Tech Center, Indiana Landmarks, preservationists, railroad enthusiasts, the School City of Valparaiso School Board, many community members, and friends of Porter County Career and Tech Education are working together to move the Depot to the Career Center property and identify a new educational use for the building. The modest Prairie Style (Frank Lloyd Wright inspired) depot remains sound and in nearly original condition. We plan to raise private funds to move and renovate the building and to use it as a hands-on learning laboratory for our students.
